Isis Toastmasters Meeting Summary - Sept 17th

Introduction:

Fellow members and Guests, Thank you to everyone who participated in last night's meeting, it was immensely enjoyable.

Table topics:

We started with a captivating Table Topic session mastered by Beccy Lee. Each Speaker pondered on some famous quotes and gave amusing, insightful and sometimes unexpected speeches. Don o'Neil as usual provided each speaker with a sincere and helpful evaluation. Congratulations to Rowan who won best Table Topics speaker. Three very helpful evaluations were delivered by Rowan Andrews, Gavin Hageman and Beccy Lee. Congratulations to Beccy Lee for winning best Evaluator.

Prepared speeches and evaluations:

The second half as usual started with the prepared speeches part of the evening. We were fortunate to have a range of speakers, Sarah Eveleigh who is working from the Advanced Bronze manual delivered a speech entitled, "The Successful Negotiation" and was supported by our new member, Monica. Thank you Monica for stepping up to the challenge. Rebecca Reid gave an insightful account into the history of The University of Oxford with the speech, "900 years of making a difference". Finally, Anand, our new member delivered his icebreaker speech and introduced himself to our club with a speech entitled, "My Life so far...". Welcome Anand and congratulations to Rebecca Reid who won best speaker.

Wrapping up:

Fatjon Alliaj our Wordmaster asked us to use the word, "Motivate" and we all had a lot of fun using that in our speeches.  Kate Tomes handled the timekeeper role in an exemplary fashion even though it was her first time.

Despite the restriction on time the General Evaluator, Chris Reid was able to pick on the key points and feedback to the group.  Main point were that we could have done better to start the first half and second half of the meeting on time and the VPE Daniel Mathke was praised for organising the meeting well.

It all carried on after the meeting as quite a a few of us popped around the corner to the Mitre Pub.
